Alignment

The Everett Link Extension would extend Link light rail 16 miles from Lynnwood through unincorporated Snohomish County to downtown Everett, largely following the I-5/Broadway corridor, with six stations — West Alderwood, Ash Way, Mariner, SW Everett Industrial Center, SR 526/Evergreen, and Everett Station — plus a provisional station at SR 99/Airport Road. Once complete, projected travel times are about 33 minutes to Lynnwood City Center and 60 minutes to downtown Seattle.

The Sound Transit Board selected final EIS alternatives to study in July 2023, and a Draft EIS with a 45-day public comment period is expected in fall 2026. Estimated cost has risen to $9.5 billion (2026), up from $7.7 billion in 2025.

2026-05 — Board realignment plan keeps Everett Link intact

Amid a systemwide funding gap, the Sound Transit Board approved a realignment plan that explicitly preserved Everett Link’s schedule and all six planned stations, following advocacy from Everett’s mayor and Snohomish County’s executive.

2026-04 — Cost estimate rises to $9.5B

Local officials pushed to keep the project on track as its estimated cost grew from $7.7 billion to $9.5 billion.

2023-07 — Board selects EIS alternatives

The Sound Transit Board selected the alternatives to be studied in the project’s Final EIS.
