L Line Central Rail Extension

Alignment

The L Line Central Extension is a short, roughly 0.8-mile infill connection proposed to link the L Line’s existing downtown loop terminus at 30th & Downing directly to the A Line (airport line) at 38th & Blake Street, adding two new stations at 33rd & Downing and 35th & Downing. The connection would let riders travel directly between central Denver’s light rail service and the airport line without transferring through Union Station.

The project remains unfunded as part of RTD’s FasTracks program, and construction awaits an identified funding source before design work can proceed. Note: RTD’s separate Northwest Rail (B Line) corridor toward Boulder/Longmont is commuter rail, not light rail, and is a distinct, larger, and even less certain project (RTD has estimated it may not be built until 2042).
